You may pick up your race packet or register onsite on July 3 between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. near the entrance to Morrow’s Meadow (rain location is Morrow’s Meadow pavilion). Or on race morning, starting at 6:30 a.m. and closing at 7:30 a.m. If you are unable to pick up your own packet, only another registered participant may pick up your packet and may be asked to sign for it.

Anyone who registers on site and those who registered after the shirt deadline will be offered a shirt on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.  Individual registration for all 4 mile events will be available for $30 at that time. No group discounts will be permitted.  Fun Run Registration will remain $15.

Please verify that you understand the categories and that you are in the category you wish to be in:

***4 mile run/walk – Participants of all ages will be timed as you run, jog or walk your way to the finish line and WILL be eligible for overall and age group awards.

***4 mile race walk – Participants of all ages will be timed but can ONLY WALK your way to the finish line.  Running is NOT permitted.  Top 3 male and female finishers will receive awards.

Road Closures

ALL ATHLETES SHOULD BE PARKED BEFORE 7:30!  The Tiger Drive bridge is under significant construction with only one lane open for traffic – EXPECT DELAYS!  We HIGHLY recommend you enter from the south via State Road 32.  Tiger Drive will be closed to all traffic starting at 7:30 a.m., and will remain closed until the last walker has entered Morrow’s Meadow (approximately 9:00).  SR 32 will have heavy traffic restrictions and closures from 7:35 to 8:15. Access to River Road will be very limited between 8:00 and 9:30. Every effort will be made to keep vehicular traffic off of the race course, but please remain aware of local residents who may attempt to access the road during the race.

PARKING IS PERMITTED AND ENCOURAGED in Morrow’s Meadow on race morning.  YOU MUST BE PARKED BY 7:30.  You will not be permitted to exit until the last athlete finishes (approx 9:30) – Yorktown Middle School Parking lot is also ideal for parking for overflow or for those that need to depart early.  This option will allow you to enter and exit out to SR 32 at any time. Additional parking can be found throughout downtown Yorktown including the Yorktown Public Library and the Yorktown United Methodist Church. It is a short walk to the start line.

Chip Timing

All 4 mile athletes will receive a numbered bib with a built-in electronic chip timing device. Your chip will give you the most accurate finish time. You will receive your bib at the time you pick up your packet. Reed Results will provide official results as soon as they are available.  Please keep your bib visibly displayed on the front of your body.

All Races start on Smith Street (State Road 32) near the Speedway gas station.  The 4-Mile Competitive Walkers and The Fun Run will start at 8:00 a.m. with all other participants starting approximately 10 minutes later.   All participants should line up on Smith Street before 8:00 a.m. with Competitive Walkers up front, followed by Fun Runners.  Those two groups will begin at 8:00.  All others should line up based on assumed speed with 4 mile competitive runners at the front, followed by 4 mile non-competitive runners and then walkers.  In addition to the restrooms located at Morrow’s Meadow, two additional Port-O-Lets will be set up near the start line. Once you are parked and checked in, please make your way downtown via the foot bridge behind Pizza King and then walk up the hill to the start line. Use caution as the highway will not be closed to traffic until 7:35 a.m. Participants should plan to gather on nearby sidewalks and side streets until instructed to enter the roadway at 7:40.  All athletes must begin the race by crossing the official start line and timing mat in the center of the road by running between the gates. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. The start line will be intentionally narrowed this year to better spread athletes out over the course (particularly over the Tiger Drive Bridge).  While it may take several minutes for all athletes to cross the start line, your timing device will record your individual total elapsed time from start to finish. The finish line is near the large pavilion in Morrow’s Meadow. Only participants are permitted in the finish recovery area and will not be permitted to reenter after exiting.

Race Course

All races begin on SR 32 at the Speedway gas station.  The 4-mile competitive walkers and fun runners will start at 8 a.m. while all remaining 4 mile participants will begin 10 minutes later.  Participants will travel East through downtown (keep to the left) and turn left (North) onto Tiger Drive. The Fun Run participants will then turn left into Morrow’s Meadow and follow the marked path to the finish line near the large pavilion. The 4 mile participants will continue North on Tiger Drive (keep to the right especially on the bridge) and cross River Road entering the paved trail loop. Running counterclockwise around the 1.1 mile loop, participants will exit the trail while turning South back onto Tiger Drive. The turn into Morrow’s Meadow occurs with over a mile remaining where you will follow the marked path around the large outer loop of the park before turning down the main road and into the finish chute near the large pavilion. The entire course is on smooth paved trails with the exception of a very short section of grass in the park while changing trails near the end of the 4 mile course.

Bib Numbers

4 mile athletes are required to wear their bib visible at all times during the race. The bib should be worn on the front of your shirt. Bib Numbers are non-transferable and may not be sold. Fun runners will not wear bib numbers.  Competitive Walkers will be designated with bib numbers 900+ and will have a bright yellow sticker making them easily visible to course officials.

Aid Stations/Medical Assistance

There are aid stations stocked with water throughout the course. Specifically, there will be an aid station at the entrance and exit of the sportspark loop near miles 1 and 2, as well as one in the park near mile 3. The finish area will be stocked with water, bananas, cookies and chocolate milk. Medical Personnel will be stationed at the finish line. Fire and Police will be stationed throughout the race course for traffic control. Anyone needing medical assistance should seek one of these locations, or locate a committee member wearing a staff shirt with a hand-held radio.

Spectator Information

Spectators should plan to cheer for participants at various points along the race course. Spectators may choose to walk downtown to the start line for the start of the race or stand near the entrance to Morrow’s Meadow to cheer for participants as they begin and continue North on Tiger Drive. Spectators will have time to relocate to various points in Morrow’s Meadow to cheer for their friends and family as they near the finish. Please keep the course trail and finish chute clear at all times.

Post Race Awards

All finishers will be offered a finisher medal after they cross the finish line! All participants and spectators should plan to attend the Post Race Awards that will begin promptly at the conclusion of the race event (approx 9:35) at the large pavilion finish area. Awards are presented for the 4 mile event only. Top 3 overall Male and Female will be recognized along with the Top 3 Male and Female in each of the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.  Additionally, the top 3 overall Male and Female finishers in the Walking Division will be recognized.  A sponsored award will be presented to the TOP DOG (fastest 4 mile finisher with a dog) and the HOT WHEELS (fastest 4 mile finisher pushing a stroller)
